Two honest notes on these numbers. First, they’re base wages reported to Statistics Canada’s Labour Force Survey — many salon roles also involve commission and tips on top, which isn’t captured in a flat hourly figure and varies by employer and clientele. Second, the “high” end of the range (as with any occupation) generally reflects experienced professionals with an established client base, not a starting wage.
Job Bank also rates the 3-year employment outlook (2025–2027) for hairstylists in BC as “Moderate” — their stated reasons are a steady mix of retirements opening positions and normal employment growth, alongside a relatively small pool of recently-experienced unemployed workers in the field. That’s a grounded, unglamorous way of saying: steady, not a boom.

How funding works
Most students don’t pay the full amount out of pocket on day one. There are four routes: self-pay with a monthly option, an RESP, a student line of credit through your bank, or StudentAid BC. Applying through your bank or StudentAid BC typically gets you an answer in about two weeks. We don’t start a student until their funding is genuinely sorted — that’s a deliberate policy, not a sales tactic, because starting a program stressed about money is the fastest way to not finish it.
