The word "balayage" comes from the French verb meaning "to sweep" — and that's exactly what your colorist does. Lightener is painted freehand directly onto sections of your hair, no foils, no caps, no harsh borders. The result is soft, gradient color that mimics what the sun would naturally do over a summer — brighter at the ends, deeper at the roots, and grown out so gently you won't see a hard line in 8 weeks.
Something Cool
Here's a fun one: balayage was actually invented at the legendary Carita salon in Paris in the 1970s, but it stayed locked inside elite French salons for almost 40 years. It went global in 2014 when Instagram exploded and every celebrity from Jennifer Aniston to Gisele Bündchen was suddenly wearing it. In major cities, a quality balayage can run $400 – $700 — the technique requires that much skill. We charge $160+ because our senior students are the ones learning the craft, and we believe quality color shouldn't be a luxury reserved for downtown salons.
The Benefits
No harsh regrowth line — color grows out softly
Lower maintenance than traditional foil highlights
Customized to your skin tone, face shape, and lifestyle
Works on most hair types and lengths
Lasts 8 – 12 weeks before a refresh is needed
Why Legends Abbotsford?
Long-term trust is the only thing that matters in a salon relationship. At our Abbotsford campus, every balayage is done by a senior-level student who has spent months training on hair-painting technique. Their work is checked at every stage by a licensed instructor — not because we don't trust them, but because we believe in zero shortcuts. You get the patient, careful work of someone who needs this client moment to graduate. That's a kind of attention you don't always get at a regular salon.

I have been attending for facials, hair removal and they are absolutely wonderful and professional. I would recommend this academy either if you are pursuing a career or just to pamper yourself with their various services offered. I am very happy I decided to go and continue going.
